Grow the capability of your people.

A partnership lifts what your school can hold. Academy does something alongside it: it makes the people in your wellbeing roles more confident, more capable, and more likely to stay.

Wellbeing Leaders Program

A year working on your wellbeing system, not just in it.

A cross-school cohort of eight to twelve wellbeing leaders. Every term produces something you bring back to your school. Sold on what gets built, not what gets learned.

The sentence your principal can approve: “By the end of Term 2 I’ll have a redesigned referral pathway on your desk.”

One thing built each term.

Term 1

Wellbeing system map and gap analysis

Where work enters, pools and stalls, with the gaps named and owned. You will know where your system leaks.

Term 2

Staff touchpoint review

Where wellbeing intersects a classroom teacher’s week, what is asked of them and what they get back.

Term 3

Tier map and leadership rhythm

Where your wellbeing capacity actually goes, and the rhythm that keeps leadership able to see it.

Term 4

Next-year wellbeing plan

A costed plan built with the cohort before it reaches your principal, so the decision they are asked to make is clear.

How the year runs

  • Two 90-minute online sessions each term, eight across the year
  • A cohort of eight to twelve leaders from different schools
  • Peer triads carry the work between sessions
  • One full Practice Day together between Terms 2 and 3
  • One place per school, so the room stays cross-school

Two sessions a term, not four. Wellbeing leaders are the most interrupted people in a school, and a fortnightly commitment gets abandoned by Week 6.

Why a cohort, not one to one

Peer learning is the thing wellbeing leaders most consistently say they lack, and it is the one thing a one-to-one partnership structurally cannot provide. Ten leaders from ten schools also means ten sets of solutions to the same problem.

When to choose something else

Three or more people from your school, or work that needs to be confidential and school-specific? One-to-one practice support is the better fit. Ask and we will say so.

A 30-minute call confirms fit and reserves a place. Cohorts form once six leaders have committed, and STEP confirms dates with the group before anyone is invoiced. Both a regional cohort and a national online cohort run, for rural and interstate leaders.

Wellbeing Practitioners Program

For your first two years in a school wellbeing role.

Most people in their first two years were hired to look after students in a place built for teaching, and given very little about how to actually do it. The role has no clear edges, the waitlist never ends, and the reporting rules are serious. That is the setup, not a sign you are bad at this.

This program is the map that should have come with the job.

Three tools, built for your real school.

My Role on a Page

A clear role you have agreed with your leadership. What you do, what you do not, and the grey areas where you check first.

My Escalation and Reporting Map

One calm page for when you are worried about a student. Who to tell, what to do, and where your school’s policies live.

My Week That Works

A week that protects time for prevention, a way to triage when there is not enough of you, and a crew of support around you.

How it runs

  • Six online sessions of 90 minutes, across roughly a term and a half
  • A cohort of about 15, in the same boat as you
  • A buddy for the whole program
  • Supports an honest claim of 12 or more CPD hours

What this is honest about

This program builds the capability of the person in the role. Its outcomes are about you: a clearer role, more confidence with reporting, a more sustainable load, and staying in the work. It does not claim to change your school’s system or your students’ outcomes. Those are a different kind of work.

CPD supporting. No accreditation claim.

Sponsor yourself, or ask your school to sponsor your place. We will let you know when the first cohort opens.

Supervising Well

The risk is not the student. It is weak hosting.

A train-the-trainer workshop for STEP Leads, Task Supervisors and supporting staff. One facilitated 2.5-hour session that fits a staff-meeting double or part of a pupil-free day. Your team leaves with a shared supervision model, practical habits and desk-ready tools, so hosting stays safe, sustainable and genuinely developmental.

What your team leaves able to do

Give real supervision

30 to 60 predictable minutes a week, attached to the meetings you already hold.

Keep every task in scope

A simple permissioning rule, so a student never drifts into work that is not theirs.

Know when to step in

A warm escalation script the room has said aloud, ready for the moment a matter needs a qualified adult.

Turn hard moments into learning

A two-minute, four-question debrief that surfaces risk while it is still small.

Who it is for

STEP Leads, Task Supervisors and wellbeing team staff who host, or are about to host, a placement student. Whether or not you have hosted before. It runs onsite for a single cohort, or online for a smaller group, and it is included in every Implementation Partnership.

The promise back to you

You never decide alone. Fit and discontinuation, safety decisions, parent expectations, scope creep and university complexity are shared load, carried with your STEP Lead, your principal and the university liaison.

Built on the HOST model, and mapped element by element to established research on placement supervision, work-integrated learning and adult professional learning: Kolb, Hattie and Timperley, Kadushin and Harkness, Lave and Wenger, alongside current work-integrated learning literature and the AASW field education standards.

Academy and partnerships work together.

Many schools grow their people first, then build the system around them. Others do both at once. There is no wrong order, and no partnership is required to begin.

STEP helps schools lift their wellbeing capacity ceiling: safely, sustainably, and without adding load to the people already holding it.
